Here’s what I did, we’ll see how it tastes. I laughed to myself as I made this soup–remembering the things I’ve read at stuffwhitepeoplelike.com.

Fatman’s Tomato Lentil soup

• About 1.5 litre of distilled water
• 2 cans of organic diced tomatos
• 1 spoonful of organic pesto
• 2 small red onions
• 2 cubes of Kallo organic soup stock
• 1 can of President’s choice organic bean medely
• 2 large organic carrots
• Some kind of expensive sea salt (I used Eden Organic French Celtic Hand Harvested Sea Salt)
• Organic butter (about 1/3 cup)
• Really good cold pressed olive oil (I used colavita)
• About 1/2 cup of dry red lentils
• About 1/2 cup of basmati rice
• Some fresh basil (organic if you have it)

Pour some oil in a pot, throw in about 3tbsp of butter and heat it. Chop up your onions and throw it in. Let it simmer for a bit. dump in the tomatos, water, chopped up carrots, rice, lentils, well everything else.

Bring the brew to a hearty boil. Turn the pot down to ‘simmer’ and let it cook for a few hours with the lid on. From time to time stir, taste it, salt and pepper it to your taste.

I laughed because everything in my house seems to be organic, and is on/or seems to be on Christian Lander’s list. Tomorrow I’m going to head out for a cross country ski–it’s not -40C here anymore–and when I come home I’ll have a big bowl of the soup with some fresh bread from the bakery and a mug of STASH organic earl grey black-green tea. I’ll twitter about whether the soup is any good or not so you can all read about it on Facebook.

Oh and a I’ll finish it all of with a good beer. Hmmm shoulda put that in the soup.

So three days, no activity.

On another note, things couldn’t have gone better for the club in stage one of the Tour de Beauce.

I left on April 17th. It’s now May 3. That’s 17 days. In those 17 days I did 3 things: I ran 2x and did yoga in the hotel room 1x. I don’t have any excuse. If you want to make something happen you do and I didn’t. Still a couple of days I did watch in envy as most of the directors on the bigger teams either get out for a run or a ride as soon as they get back to the race hotel from the stage. The reason they can do that is they have 6 staff: 3 soigneurs and 3 mechanics to take care of all the post stage stuff.

On top of this, I got home Monday night and its now Saturday and I’ve not done anything since getting home! I had to jump right into the deep end of project wrap up and a presentation for a consulting project I’m doing… and then, to be honest, the routine of exercising was broken so I’m back to square one to get rolling again.

On that note… I’m heading out for a run.

LIFE TIP: sometimes its good to be drunk, as long as it’s done in moderation.

Stuck

I’m feeling pretty good and I’d planned to take one day off this first week. I’m happy that I’m not crippled after yesterday’s gym workout. Jake was speculating that I wouldn’t be able to walk today. I can and I don’t feel too sore. All-in-all a good sign. I’ll pick it up again on the weekend with a longer ski and another trainer ride.

» Sheri got stuck in a ditch with her Element today. We call her Element the snow-tank. She’s never been stuck, so it was a surprise. I s’pose I did a bit of exercise digging it out. There were six dogs in it, trapped, they didn’t know what to do…
