			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Alright, I&#8217;ve been reasonably good at this exercise thing. And I&#8217;ve passed a big hurdle&mdash;its become routine. I don&#8217;t need to think about exercising, I just do it. But today I was at the gym and it was just that&#8230; routine. There was no love. I didn&#8217;t really give a shit about what I was doing. I loved skiing the first few times I went out, but not enough to want to go everyday. I kinda sorta like riding the trainer. I don&#8217;t like running and I don&#8217;t really like going to the gym. And overall I don&#8217;t really like this exercising thing, at least not today. </p>
<p>Hopefully all this will change when I can do things like ride outside, and run in the woods? Until then I&#8217;m content that its not a struggle to get out and move, even if the exercise I pick on any given day is the one that seems the most convenient for the time rather than the one I&#8217;m passionate to get out and do. </p>
<p>Oh, gym today, 1hr same drill as <a href="http://7gc.net/onefatman/category/gym/">the times before</a> and I upped the weight across the board. It was too much for the squat and I had to back it off a bit. So: squat, lat pull downs, lunge, bench press, seated row, back extension, crunch. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I got home at a decent hour and went direct to the gym. Did the same routine as <a href="http://7gc.net/onefatman/01/matters-not/">the last time</a> and <a href="http://7gc.net/onefatman/27/first-trip-to-the-gym/">the time before that</a>. But this time I started upping the weights. I felt good and <strong>I managed not to drink booze today</strong>. I did some back extensions instead of leg extensions &#8217;cause I want to work on more core stuff than legs right now. </p>
<p>I&#8217;m knocking off these circuits pretty quick now so I think I&#8217;ll start to tack on a trainer ride after them from now on. I did today&#8217;s circuit training in 45 minutes. Today was another killer day, sunshine and 10C. The snow is melting fast and if I want to get in a ski or two I&#8217;ll have to get on it. Especially since next week I&#8217;m heading to <a href="http://tourdegeorgia.com/">Georgia</a> too. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>OK, I went to the gym. I admit it. Sheri had a credit with our local gym owner for some pet care service she did in exchange for gym time. Of course we&#8217;ve never used it yet because for the last three years I&#8217;ve been lazy and fat. So today we went and got set up with our in-kind memberships and I even topped up a few more pay as you go visits. </p>
<p>Here&#8217;s how I approach the gym. I read <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Cyclists-Training-Bible-Joe-Friel/dp/1931382212/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;qid=1206799996&#038;sr=8-2">a book about training for biking</a> in 1998 or so. It was written by one of my old team mate&#8217;s dad. I thought it was pretty to the point. So I just stick with it. You start out by basically just using the gym, do stuff with low to no weight and just get your body moving and used the movements. Focus on good form, not the weights you push. Do circuits, fast transition between stations, no resting between sets because you are doing a different exercise. Don&#8217;t do too many exercises in one session, no more than seven. </p>
<p>So that&#8217;s what I did, 5-7min warm up on the treadmill and stretching, then 3 circuits, 20 reps per station, of:</p>
<p><strong>&raquo; Squat &#8211; just the bar<br />
&raquo; Lat pull downs<br />
&raquo; Split sqats &#8211; just the bar<br />
&raquo; Bench press &#8211; just the bar<br />
&raquo; Seated row<br />
&raquo; Knee extension<br />
&raquo; crunches (30)</strong></p>
<p>I got fried on the split squats and swapped in straight leg press. Split squats are hard, and I&#8217;m too weak to do them properly right now. </p>
<p><strong>Workout</strong>: Gym, circuits about 1:15 or so.<br />
<strong>Today&#8217;s weather</strong>: -3C, sunny</p>
