Utilities
I have chronic computer problems. People think that because I’m a web geek, I somehow know a bunch aboot computers… I don’t. I guess I know how to use them, but that’s aboot it. I typically let my computers degrade slowly over 3 years and then get new ones. I’m due for new ones right now.
I’m suffering from a lack of RAM, and a hard drive that gets cluttered with… well I thought movies, but I just came to realize its podcasts. I just downloaded two good utilities to help my aging PC act nicer:
- Auslogics Disk Defrag is better and faster than the standard one that comes with windows. The windows one is so f-ing slow I end up never using it until I’m desperate. Auslogics is 10x faster.
- WinDirStat is a nifty little utility that very quickly builds a tree and map of your disk usage. This helps you see where you have the most used space and easily identify files you might want to emmm delete. It works great. I hate the colors – but the histogram is useful.
I should’ve clued in aboot the podcasts before — that is where I was able to free up the most space — in my iTunes Library by deleting the old ones. Bad podcasts.
